Ergonomics Risk Factors

The three primary ergonomic risk factors that cause MSDs are awkward posture, high force, and high or long frequency. Combination of postures, forces and frequencies increase the chance of developing an MSD.

This lesson is designed to provide participants an introduction to the ergonomic risk factors (ERF) topic. Through this lesson, participants will be learning about various types of ergonomic risk factors, for example, awkward posture, excessive force, and static posture. In addition, participants will also be exposed to methods on how to discern ergonomic risk factors at the workplace along with ones inherent in employees.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to;

  • Explain various types of ergonomic risk factors 
  • Understand methods to identify ergonomic risk factors
  • Understand risk factors inherent in employees
